Your child receives a small group lesson and a full orchestra rehearsal every
week. In addition to the rehearsals in school, students are encouraged to
develop a daily practice routine at home. Appropriate practice will contribute
to your child’s success on his/her instrument.
PRACTICE
= PROGRESS
Provide a practice location with few distractions.
Develop a practice schedule with your child. Four or
five
sessions of about 10-15 minutes should be enough to allow
success in playing the assignments.
Encourage your child to play correctly. He/She should practice
in a well lit room and stand or sit in a chair with "perfect
posture." Bass students should either stand or use a stool.
A music stand is helpful.
Words of praise work wonders!
Ask your child to perform for family or friends. That counts
as practice too!
