Chaperone a Trip

In addition to attending school concerts and musicals, parents can help be involved by making sure that students bring their instrument home for daily practice and stick to a consistent practice schedule.  At the high school level students should practice 30 - 45 minutes daily, six days per week (outside of band).  It's important that students practice every day so that they can build embouchure stamina and create muscle memory needed to develop technique.  Consistency is key.  If you don't do it every day, it doesn't work.  Some students might benefit from using a computer program called SmartMusic designed to make practicing fun.  Ask your child... "Did you bring your instrument home today?" and "Did you practice today?".  Students who play large instruments might want to rent an instrument for home practice or use some free time to practice in school.

Volunteer Some Time

This year for the first time parents volunteered to help out with the Winter Concert Reception.  It was a huge success.  There was almost 100% parental involvement.  Thanks for your support.  The reception set a nice tone for the evening.  Hopefully, this will be a new Greeley Band tradition!
