GRADING POLICY

            Supplies

A notebook or binder

A folder if your notebook doesn’t have one included

            Homework

                  Homework is assigned daily and is due the following day, unless otherwise stated.  I try to assign                                 problems that will prepare you for this course as well as future math endeavors.  Most                                                problems will be odds, and these are to be checked in the back of the book. 

                        Remember:  All work must be shown – ALWAYS!

                  Homework is graded as 2 points (completion of each problem), 1 point (missing several problems                                 from the assignment), and 0 points (did not turn in, or just copied answers out of the back of the                   book).

            “GIVES”

                  I understand life gets crazy sometimes, and you are unable to complete your homework, for a                                      variety of reasons.  “GIVES” have come to your rescue!  You have 2 GIVES per semester, which             
                  means that assignment is due the following day and no credit will be deducted. It is your responsibility to
                  remember to turn in the assignment, as well as letting me know at the beginning of class the day you
                  are using it.

            Tests/Quizzes

                  Tests and quizzes will be announced and will be given in class.  I will usually let you know 4-6                                     days before an exam, and 3-4 days before a quiz.  You will take the Math A in January, which will be                   your midterm exam.

            Grades

                  Everything is based off of a point system. Your grade is determined by the number of points you                                 earn divided by the total number of points available.  Your grade is determined by the following:

                                                Q1                    42.5%                         Semester 1        40%
                                                Q2                    42.5%                         Q3                      20%
                                                Math A                 15%                         Q4                      20%
                                                                                                             Exam                  20%

            Blackboard

                  Everyone will sign on to be a member of the class’ Blackboard system.  Copies of all notes will be                              provided as well as all HW assignments.  If you are absent, you should print the notes off of                                        Blackboard, do the homework assignment, and then see me if you have specific questions.  Also,                                 your grades will be available on the class’ specific Blackboard site.  You should check this                                                  regularly, and if there is a mistake, NOTIFY ME IMMEDIATELY!  This is your                                           responsibility!
