Dear Students and Parents,
This Friday we are not allowing our
seniors to come and go during the school day. Seniors may drive to school
in the morning but will not be allowed to leave until their schedule for the
day is complete. They may leave before 2:35 only if all their classes for
the day are done and will not be allowed back on campus until after 2:35.
Past experience tells us that St.
Patrick’s Day, particularly when it falls on a Friday, is a day of great
temptation for some of our students, both temptation to leave campus and miss
class inappropriately, and, in some cases, to bring alcohol on campus.
This is obviously an important note for
all our students, and not just our seniors. It's important that we remind
one another from time to time of our expectations, and we want all our students
to know that we care deeply about their safety and their well being.
Alcohol and other illicit drugs are never allowed on our campus and any student
found in possession of such drugs or under their influence will face the most
serious consequences. Parents, please take the time to have an important
conversation with your children around this subject.
We are all invested in keeping our
students safe and insuring that we can have a healthy, happy spring together
filled with all the traditional spring events. Please understand that our
action this Friday is intended only to keep all our students safe and to
minimize the temptations some of them may face to make less than sound
decisions.
If a student needs to leave campus on
Friday for a legitimate reason (such as a doctor’s appointment), he or she
should bring a note from home that includes the specific reason to the
attendance office. As is always the case, any underclass student must be
accompanied by a parent/guardian when signing out.
Thank you.
