Most unfortunately it was necessary to call a brief
assembly in school today to discuss the matter of some graffiti found in school
yesterday.
Near the end of the school day Monday, one of our
students appropriately reported this graffiti which was found on a bathroom
wall. The graffiti included a racial slur and so we immediately called
the New Castle Police. They have filed a report.
At today's assembly, I condemned such behavior in our
school and reminded our students of our expectations of tolerance and
compassion.
As they typically are, our students were attentive and
respectful during the assembly and I've heard from some of our teachers that
conversations did ensue in some classes today. We will continue to work
to promote an environment of tolerance and respect at
