Most unfortunately it was necessary to call a brief assembly in school today to discuss the matter of some graffiti found in school yesterday.

Near the end of the school day Monday, one of our students appropriately reported this graffiti which was found on a bathroom wall.  The graffiti included a racial slur and so we immediately called the New Castle Police.  They have filed a report.

At today's assembly, I condemned such behavior in our school and reminded our students of our expectations of tolerance and compassion.

As they typically are, our students were attentive and respectful during the assembly and I've heard from some of our teachers that conversations did ensue in some classes today.  We will continue to work to promote an environment of tolerance and respect at Greeley.
